The Dombes is a plateau with 1200 ponds, and used to be a principality that began at the gates of Châtillon. It is a marvellous natural reserve for the people of water and air.

Its ponds were created by Benedictine and Carthusian monks and have made it possible to live off fishing, while others went hunting.
